Major Trades:
The most interesting trade so far today has to be the exchange of young talent between Phoenix and Colorado. The Coyotes sent Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter to the Avalanche in exchange for Wojtek Wolski.
Analysis:
Both Wolski and Mueller had been rumored to be on the trading block, it only makes sense they would be exchanged for each other. Both former first round draft picks have shown promise, but have not lived up to expectations. It is hoped that a change of scenery would benefit each of these potential superstars.
Wolski has much more upside than Mueller at this time, hence the addition of Porter who is an ex-Michigan star who is currently in the AHL.

Minor Trades:
The Carolina Hurricanes sent Scott Walker to the Washington Capitals for a seventh round pick. Walker had just missed 21 games due to shoulder surgery, but he can add some grit and experience to the Caps lineup if he can stay healthy. Canes Country and Japers' Rink will have more.
The St. Louis Blues traded Yan Stastny to the Vancouver Canucks for Pierre-Cedric Labrie. Not much to add about that deal. Check out St. Louis Game Time and Nucks Misconduct for more information.
