As people are thinking about making up the hockey wishlists, how about we start on who deserves a bit o' coal in their stockings this year? Feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments. We've still got another two weeks until Christmas, after all, and Santa needs all the help he can get!
Off the top of my head....
--The NHL Board of Governors - for being so out of touch with their biggest monetary contributors, the fans
--The NHL - for many things, actually...but first and foremost for putting the Pittsburgh Penguins in their second Winter Classic in four years, just so they can play the Washington Capitals; enough with the Crosby-Ovechkin thing already, and let other teams have a chance to play outdoors
--Colin Campbell - for, well, most things officiating
--The New York Islanders - for, unfortunately, being the New York Islanders; also known as a "train wreck in progress"
--Lou Lamoriello, New Jersey Devils GM - for not only putting us all through Kovalchuk-rumor hell (no pun intended) all summer, but then putting long suffering Devils fans through hell (again, no pun intended) most of this season so far
--Ilya Kovalchuk's agent - for thinking any part of that whole situation was a good idea for anybody
--Glen Sather, New York Rangers GM - not only picking up Derek Boogaard, but overpaying him so much that he's now essentially untradeable
--Darryl Sutter, Calgary Flames GM - for trading his own son, Brett, to the Carolina Hurricanes; I know it's a business, but still
--Peter Forsberg - for not retiring years ago when his body told him to; and yet he still persists in playing the "maybe I'll be able to play after all" game with everybody years and years later
--Teemu Selanne - for teasing everyone with his "will I/won't I retire" shtick; yet again
--Patrick Roy - for blaming Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Guy Boucher completely out of the blue for the lack of offense in junior hockey these days; specifically in the Quebec Major Junior League, of course
--Dan Ellis - for not sticking with Twitter when things got a little rough; at least Paul Bissonnette came back after a bit
I know I'm missing a lot of stuff...so what have you got?
