Busy week in Leafs land

Stay connected for news and updates

Four games in five nights for the Leafs makes for a busy week for them and for me. Tonight, the Panthers are in town, which unfortunately means I won't catch what promises to be an excellent gold-medal tilt between Canada and the U.S.

Wonder what hockey fans will pick on TV?

Here's a look at the Leafs schedule this week, along with some thoughts from Brian Burke on the effect the Olympics has on the NHL schedule, and here's a preview for tonight's game.

Toronto's still on pace for only 72 points and is really going to be in tough to make the postseason barring a big run starting this month. Given their talent level, just getting out of lottery positioning might be the real "goal" of 2009-10.

Florida, meanwhile, may only be four points up on the Leafs, but realistically seem far closer to finally getting into the postseason. The biggest problem for the Panthers, as it's been for years, is they allow so many shots against — leading the league in the category.

Tomas Vokoun has been terrific, but it's hard to say the same for Scott Clemmensen. This team misses Craig Anderson, in other words.
